Graphic designer Nicholas Felton documents his everyday routines into charts and graphs. Read this interview to learn about how the ritual of designing personal Annual Reports effects his life and design projects. hmmm... can data tell stories?
The Felton interview was quite enlightening. At the beginning of this project I've considered the variety of systems and techniques of collecting and categorizing data, but I didn't realize the other factor of altering your information when he said "I also tend to think up fun or interesting ways to manipulate the data I am collecting." This was a fun twist to the stereotypical process of immediately accepting what you've observed and collected.
I thought the Daytum site was ingenious and elegantly laid out/communicated. The idea of data actually telling a story seems to open up more options and creating more ways to incorporate different types of data visualization within my own information graphics.
This blog is the repository of all course work related to Information Architecture. Syllabus, project descriptions, reading & viewing assignments, related links and anything that catches my fancy will be posted here. Follow it.
